Drifting for Charity

Ok this is my first ever blog post so bare with my newbie blogging skills.

I was recently invited to attend a National Skyline Owners day at Llandow race circuit in South Wales. I was also joined by fellow NightWalker Danny O’Brien who was also driving, along with Mason taking photographs of the action.

The reason for the invite was to provide passenger rides around the track to raise money for a local charity - Felindre Cancer Care. As a pro driver in the BDC I jumped at the chance to gain some practice at the track as a few weeks later Round 2 of the BDC would take place there, I was also proud to be raising money for such a good cause.

The day went really well and I was enjoying driving, not to mention the numerous passengers I took out for laps, who went out smiling and came back looking white as a sheet. I must have been driving like someone possessed. As always things were going a little too smoothly, then after the lunch break I went back out fully recharged and began driving a bit more aggressively when all of a sudden I was exiting the bustop chicane (one of the corners at Llandow circuit) up shifted into third gear and BANG, my gearbox bit the dust, I was truly gutted to say the least.
This being the first gear box I had broken since I started drifting brought me down from cloud 9. However, it wasn’t a total washout. After limping back to the pits I was told by the Skyline Owners chairman that we had raised somewhere in the region of £250, which I thought was fantastic.

Here are a few pics of the action
